On August 18, the launch meeting for the project “R&D and Industrialization of Key Technologies for Ultra-Soft, Shape-Retaining All-Cotton Fabrics,” led by Weiqiao Textile under the 2026 Shandong Provincial Key R&D Program (Major Scientific and Technological Innovation Project), was held at Weiqiao Textile.
At the meeting, Li Zhaohui, Director of the Binzhou Science and Technology Bureau, delivered remarks; Zhang Jinfeng, Senior Vice President of Weiqiao Pioneering Group and Executive President of Weiqiao Textile, gave a speech; and Liu Yong, Technical Lead of the Project and Executive Vice Dean of the School of Textiles at Tiangong University, presented the overall project plan.
The project targets key technical bottlenecks in the cotton textile industry, particularly the difficulty of achieving both ultra-softness and shape retention, as well as long-standing challenges associated with conventional processes, including quality loss, environmental risks, and low added value. Through original technological innovation, the project aims to establish an integrated pathway spanning fundamental research, technological development, and industrial-scale application.
